about
me
I began my career as an art director in advertising before making my comic book debut in Italy with the renowned publisher Eura Editoriale, contributing to the historic magazines Skorpio and Lancio Story before moving on to John Doe.
In 2005, I started collaborating with DC Comics, co-creating DMZ with writer Brian Wood for its Vertigo imprint. The series, which depicts a hypothetical second American Civil War, sparked controversy but achieved worldwide success. In 2022, it was adapted into a television miniseries for HBO Max. My work on DMZ earned me the prestigious Gran Guinigi Award for Best Artist at Lucca Comics & Games in 2007.
After DMZ, I continued working with major European and American comic book publishers, including Marvel, 2000 AD, Dark Horse, and Panini. In 2010, I co-founded Italian Job Studio, a creative collective active in television and cross-media production.
Over the years, my work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. One of the most notable exhibitions was Archi & BD at the Cité de l’Architecture in Paris, where my work was shown alongside that of masters such as Moebius, Bilal, Lorenzo Mattotti, Winsor McCay, and Frank Miller.
In 2014, I collaborated with writer Victor Gischler and Boosta, a member of the Italian rock band Subsonica, to create and illustrate Highway to Hell for Italian Job Studio.
Throughout my career, I have also brought my artistic and storytelling skills to brands such as Ferrari and BMW Motorrad, while working as a character designer for films and video games.
In recent years, alongside my work in comics, I have increasingly focused on contemporary and conceptual art. In 2021, I participated in the Venice Biennale, where three of my works were exhibited in the Italian Pavilion.
